Rome Isn't Lame But It Is Congested
Rome turned me into a photographer, but does that make me special? A photo essay.
I had heard that Rome was “overrated,” but for someone who’s been studying the history of wine for the last four years, it was magical. You don’t need to search for history in Rome, just start walking. The buildings are beautiful pastels: green, blue, pink, orange, and we walked through the city on bright sunny days, sometimes in the light after rain.
I’d been wanting to expand my skills into photography, and Rome is the place that I’ll remember that beginning.
One thing about Rome, though: as you’re walking through, contemplating human history, you’ll want to integrate into that moment of reflection the streets congested with tourists, the lingering men waiting to sell you a selfie stick, and the graffiti, stickers, and art plastered to the old tufa walls of the ancient city.
That’s part of it. This is a walk through history—ancient to modern. At least in your time there are bathrooms, right?
